Whether you’re looking to cover old ink, alter a tattoo’s meaning or clear some space for more designs, removing or fading your past ink can help ensure the best possible outcome for your new tattoo.
With the use of our advanced PicoWay laser technology, our expert technician Jim can fade or remove parts of your tattoo in less time than any other tattoo removal laser on the market. Syneron Candela’s PicoWay laser picosecond pulsation rate, which delivers targeted energy at a speed of about 300-500 picoseconds at a time—that’s one trillionth of a second. These hyper-fast pulses break up the targeted ink into very tiny pieces, which the body then naturally eliminates through its natural processes.
Depending on how old your tattoo is and how much fading has occurred naturally, the amount of fading or altering sessions required will differ. Most clients see completely clearance in as few as six laser sessions spaced eight weeks apart, so if your goal is fading you can expect just a portion of the time.
PicoWay includes the use of three separate wavelengths, (532nm, 785nm and 1064nm) each of which is able to remove a specific ink colour. If you’re hope is to remove just a specific colour of your tattoo, Jim can target just that colour with a specific wavelength. During your initial consultation, talk to Jim about your specific requirements.
A tattoo can still be covered if the ink has not been faded. However, this is usually only successful with smaller tattoos, or ones that do not have much ink to begin with. Tattoos that are ink heavy or multicoloured can prohibit the tattoo artist from creating a truly different cover-up tattoo design. In these types of conditions, your tattoo cover-up may require more ink in order to successfully cover which can double the amount of ink going into your skin (as well as the price).
A tattoo artist who cares about their professional reputation will be up with you and recommend fading or partial removal, if they believe it is necessary. After all, they’re not looking to have a dissatisfied client. Unthink Inc. has partnered with a local tattoo artist, Ingrid of Sound Tattoo Studio , to help clients in the Ajax and Oshawa area receive the best tattoo cover-ups possible. Removing, fading or altering a tattoo before covering it up with new ink can help expand the design possibilities and get you the ink you’re truly after. By clearing the space and creating a semi-blank canvas, the old ink is able to be completely covered, while also allowing the tattoo artists skill to truly shine.
