Whether the tattoo artist didn’t stick to the planned design or you simply don’t like how the finished product looks, your unwanted ink no longer has to be permanent. At Unthink Inc. our trained technician Jim uses the power of the advanced PicoWay Laser to quickly and comfortably remove your unwanted ink. However before this process can begin, your tattoo needs time to heal and settle into the skin.
To have an understanding of why waiting is necessary for proper tattoo removal, it’s important to understand the process of how this unwanted ink heals. When a tattoo is applied, the needle punctures the epidermis (top layer of skin) to be able to inject ink into the dermis (second layer of skin). Once there the ink particles become wrapped in a protein, which traps them making it impossible for the ink to move anywhere it is not intentionally placed. Once this process is over, the body naturally heals itself and the tattoo slowly starts to settle. This entire process takes at least three months to be complete, some colors like red even longer, and only then can the ink be safely removed.
If this process is not adhered to, you can run the risk of a more painful and ineffective procedure. You may also experience uncomfortable side effects such as blistering or permanent scarring. When ink has not fully settled into the skin and still lingers within the epidermis, the laser energy cannot be properly distributed across the treated area; therefore, the top layer reacts and causes blistering. Scarring is a result of a wound that is never able to properly heal. This is similar to a scab that is consistently picked at. Over time and constant interference, a scar will develop. The only way to bypass these avoidable risks is to let your unwanted ink completely heal before making an appointment.
