Bad Microblading? What You Need To Know
Eyebrows on fleek? Not so much? What went wrong with your microblading, find out the facts.
We have written a few articles and blogs about microblading removal, due to the fact that it is so popular nowadays, and it is very relevant to the laser tattoo removal industry.
What is Bad Microblading?
It seems like, with every turn, a new salon pops up and offers microblading services, and when it is done by the right person with the relevant qualifications, microblading can look amazing. But, unfortunately, there are some cases where microblading has gone horribly wrong, or the eyebrows ended up looking worse than when they came in.
Bad microblading symptoms include:
- eyebrows that look blue in colour
- the ink has seemed to fade away very quickly.
Some of these people end up covering their eyebrows with a pencil so that their friends and family do not notice the bad microblading job.
Let’s back up slightly and talk a bit about microblading removal.

We The PicoWay Laser To Remove Bad Microblading
At Unthink Inc., we use the power of PicoWay to remove both unwanted tattoos and microblading. PicoWay is the most advanced and leading tattoo removal device in Canada, and there is little to no downtime for patients that have had a treatment done with PicoWay. PicoWay uses the photoacoustic effect when removing tattoos. Unlike many other lasers that use the photothermal effect which can cause scarring, burning, and pain, many patients experience no side effects and a pain free session. This is especially important when it comes to microblading removal, as the tattoo is on your face. Most people do not want irritated skin on their face, especially where their eyebrows are supposed to be. When we remove unwanted microblading jobs, you can expect the same type of procedure to be conducted as regular tattoo removal. The main difference that comes with microblading is the fact that since the procedure will be done on the face, proper eye protection will be the main concern. Although the laser is safe for the skin, it can be very harmful if the laser is projected into the eye, which is why at Unthink, we make sure that our patients are well suited for the procedure.

What Happened, Why Is My Microblading Blue or Fading?
The ink that is used in microblading is quite different than ink that is used for tattoos. Microblading ink is actually not an ink at all, but is instead a specialized pigment. Microblading technicians use this type of ink so that it creates small hair like strokes, so that it appears more natural and not drawn on. The specialized pigment that is used in microblading contains heavy metal ingredients that oxidize and react to UV light over time, which causes the ink to appear blue. Regular tattoo ink is deeper and more saturated than microblading ink, and it is inserted under the top layer of the skin which is the epidermis. When the ink is inserted deeper into the skin, this will ensure that it is permanent. Microblading on the other hand is a cosmetic specialized pigment that is applied with essentially a razor blade, which in turn does not make it permanent. Microblading often fades after 6-12 months, and will then cause the ink to turn blue in colour.
