In the past to have a tattoo removal successfully removed with laser technology, your skin had to be fairer than the ink colour of your tattoo (porcelain skin and black ink was considered the ideal candidate for tattoo removal). With Syneron Candela’s advanced PicoWay laser, we can successfully perform laser tattoo removal on any skin type and all ink colours. However, there are certain habits and considerations which any laser tattoo removal candidate should ask themselves.
If your answers less than three months, Unthink Inc. will be unable to successfully begin your laser tattoo removal process. The ink must settle into the skin in order for our advanced laser to successfully target and rid of it. If you start before the three months, you’ll be at risk of scarring, blistering and the process taking longer. If you’ve had your tattoo since you were a rebellious 16-year-old, you’re in luck! The older the ink, the easier it is to remove because your body will have already naturally disposed of some of the foreign substance.
Although our technology clears ink more efficiently and in fewer sessions, the body must be given time to absorb and dispose of the broken down ink particles. Sessions will need to be spaced approximately 8 weeks apart and clients will need at least six sessions to achieve full clearance.
Recommendations such as avoiding direct sunlight of the treatment area, keeping the area cool and dry and limiting salt consumption post-session, must all be followed for safe and successful removal. The laser breaks down your tattoo ink but we rely on the body to dispose of it. This being said, if you have a weak immune system, your success may be hindered. For smokers, it is even more difficult for the body to remove the ink as blood circulation is poorer.
If you are breastfeeding or pregnant, we recommend you wait to begin your laser tattoo removal journey. Although there is no available research on the subject, we cannot guarantee that there will be no risk for the baby. We do know however, that the skin becomes more sensitive to light when pregnant may be more susceptible to react to the laser. Always consult your family doctor.
