The PicoWay laser can eliminate ink in fewer treatments than traditional lasers on the market. Its revolutionary picosecond technology makes the Picoway more efficient than Q-switched lasers that use nanosecond technology. PicoWay’s pulses work so quickly they are measured in picoseconds — one trillionth of a second. Ink particles are shattered 1,000 times faster resulting in less overall needed sessions. Most tattoos require five to seven sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, which means complete tattoo clearance can be achieved in under a year with the PicoWay.
What makes PicoWay so revolutionary isn’t just its speed, but also its ability to clear a wide of variety of colours. With the use of three different wavelengths, 532nm, 785nm and 1064nm, PicoWay is able to target and destroy colours like yellow, blue and green, which are harder to eliminate when working with just one wavelength. Clients experience better overall clearance, as the proper wavelengths are used to directly target each colour. Using the wrong wavelength can lengthen the process resulting in discomfort and even scarring. To learn more about why wavelength matters, click here.
Since PicoWay’s pulsation rate is so fast, sessions are much quicker and pain management is significantly easier. The laser is able to destroy ink particles into smaller pieces, allowing the body to absorb more ink during one session. With Q-switched lasers the slow process of the laser created a more uncomfortable and painful experience. Quicker pulsation also results in a lower energy output, therefore less heat is being absorbed by the skin. To further ensure complete comfort during sessions, a numbing agent is applied to the area pre-treatment. We also use the Zimmer to blast -30 ºC air on the targeted treatment area.
If the fear of any post-treatment skin damage has held you back from tattoo removal, rest assured PicoWay offers the most minimal risk of injury than any other tattoo removal system on the market. Traditional Q-switched lasers use photothermal technology which can heat the skin to the point where a burning sensation can be felt and can actually lead to blistering of the skin. This is especially prevalent for those with darker skin tones, as the laser has a hard time differentiating skin pigment to tattoo pigment. PicoWay’s energy is more focused and able to easily target tattoo pigment no matter the skin tone surrounding it. The overall experience is more pleasant during and post treatment.
Although tattoo removal is the primary function of PicoWay, it is also able to give fast and lasting results clearing a variety of different pigmented lesions. If you have any sunspots, birthmarks, age spots, non textured moles, or other unwanted skin pigmentation, the Resolve PicoWay can help. The process is similar to that of tattoo removal. Whereby the laser shatters pigment into tiny pieces and is then absorbed by the body’s natural processes. Post-treatment a topical antibiotic ointment may be prescribed to ensure no there is no infection. Depending on the size and depth of pigment, clearance can be achieved in as little as one treatment.
